Ok, so I got an email from Rootz Nutrition asking if I wanted to try their paleo protein powder. At first I was thinking, ugh, not another nasty tasting (and not that healthy) whey protein powder (whey isn’t even paleo anyway). I was thinking of saying no right off the bat, but then I thought I’d take a look at their product first.
Imagine my surprise when I saw that Rootz had a combination of hemp protein, sacha inchi protein (never heard of it? I’ll explain below) egg white protein along with other superfoods like spirulina, maca, flax and bee pollen to supply electrolytes, greens, antioxidants and support healthy detoxification.
I often get emails from companies asking me to review their products and most of the time I have to say no because I don’t want to recommend something that is artificial, has bad ingredients or is something that I don’t genuinely like or respect. But this was a pleasant surprise to see good stuff in this protein powder!
All of the Nutrient Dense Goodies in One Protein Powder
I was excited to see that Rootz included so many beneficial nutrients in their protein powder because I actually do have smoothies for breakfast quite often and I buy about 6 or more different products like hemp protein, green powder, bee pollen, flax and more to add to my smoothies to make it as healthy as possible. BUT, Rootz’ protein powder already has all of that included in one neat package! It makes it super convenient.
I think it’s great that Harrison Levy, the owner and creator of Rootz is paleo himself and he started this blend because he had the same issue I did…. he didn’t want a super processed protein powder with chemicals and artificial ingredients. He also had to buy a bunch of different things to put them together in his smoothie…so why not create a product that combines them all in one?
The ingredients include…
Egg White Protein, Sacha Inchi Protein, Hemp Protein
Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, Maca Root, Bee Pollen, Acai, Goji Berries, Blueberries, Royal Jelly
Green Detox Blend
Spirulina, Chlorella, Kale, Spinach, Broccoli
Natural Chocolate Extract, Natural Vanilla Extract, Stevia Leaf, Cinnamon, Natural Sea Salt
This superfood paleo protein powder can benefit you in a number of ways…
- Provides electrolytes
- Supplies antioxidants
- Supports healthy weight management
- Low carb & high protein
- Low sugar
- Supports detoxification
- Contains amino acids to support muscles and mood
- Promotes overall health
- Promotes the growth of lean muscle mass
- Supplies greens and veggies
What is Sacha Inchi Protein?
I had never heard of it either, but upon further investigation I was delighted because Sacha Inchi protein seems to be a really good clean protein source. Sacha Inchi is harvested from the seeds of an amazonian fruit pod. These seeds have been prized for centuries by indigenous peoples since they are very nutrient dense, high in protein and contain all 9 amino acids which help to support muscle growth and healthy cell growth.
Ways to Use Rootz Paleo Protein Powder
The most obvious way to use it, of course, is to add to your smoothie. I made my delicious chocolate banana smoothie recipe and just omitted protein powder, maca, green powder and cocoa powder and replaced it with 1 scoop of Rootz’ paleo protein blend. It was super tasty and adds a sweetness without any added sugar. It just has a bit of stevia in it. Usually I have like 6 packages to go through to add to my smoothie, so this was much easier and faster.
The protein blend is even good enough to stand on it’s own. If you’re lost on what to have for an afternoon snack, you can just add a scoop to a glass of almond milk or water and it actually tastes good! Plus, it will give you a nice high protein, low-carb snack that will keep you fuller longer, eliminate sugar cravings and won’t put you on the blood sugar roller coaster.
You can make smoothie bowls or you can even roll this protein into chocolate almond butter bites. I bet you could even bake it into a high protein muffin or bread. The possibilities are endless!
Energizing Paleo Superfood
Rootz also has a Energizing drink powder that is made with all natural ingredients (no scary artificial sweeteners or weird chemicals or dyes!). Unfortunately, I can’t tolerate caffeine so I wasn’t able to try this one, but my husband liked it. If you know someone who is hooked on those unhealthy energy drinks and needs a replacement for a nourishing energy boost, this would be a great option.
It also contains a few adaptogens that are excellent support for healthy hormones. The drink includes rhodiola and schizandra, which are two adaptogens that I’ve even taken in supplement form because of their hormonal health benefits.
You just add a scoop to a glass of water then stir and you’re good to go!
The Paleo Energizing Superfood contains the following…
Energy and Strength Blend
Yerba Mate Extract, Guarana, Tongkat Ali Root, Rhodiola, Schizandra Berry, Asian Ginseng, Ginko Biloba
Metabolism Stimulation Blend
Raspberry, Lemon, Matcha Green Tea, Yohimbe Bark
Vascularity and Anti-Inflammation Blend
Beetroot, Turmeric, Ginger, Devils Claw, Cinnamon
Goji Berry, Blueberry, Acai, Maca Root, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly
Stevia Leaf, Natural Vanilla Extract
