Chocolate Whoopie Pie Recipe (Paleo & Gluten Free)

  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 12 tbsp butter or ghee softened a bit
  • 1/2 cup cocoa or carob powder
  • 2 tsp organic lemon zest
  • 6 tbsp raw honey




  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, sift the coconut flour and cocoa powder. 

  3. Add the butter, honey and lemon zest.

  4. Mix for 5 minutes until the dough is sticky and creamy.

  5. Wet your hands and scoop out 1 teaspoon of dough at a time. Roll between your hands and flatten to get a cookie. Repeat for the remaining dough.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes.

  7. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before handling the cookies.


  1. Mix together all the ingredients.

  2. Spread the filling on 12 cookies, and place the other 12 on top to create sandwiches.
